Guided Tours

Free guided tours of the Museum's historic houses explore southern California's transformation from Mexican ranchos to a modern American metropolis through the lives of the Workman and Temple families. Tours last about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Before or after their tour, visitors are welcome to explore the historic El Campo Santo cemetery or the exhibits in the Gallery on their own.

Tours depart on the hour Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. Closed major holidays.

Tours in Spanish are offered the second Sunday of every month at 1:30 and 3:30 pm.

Group Tours

Groups of ten or more may schedule a tour for Monday-Sunday from 9:30 am-3:30 pm. Groups must make reservations at least two weeks in advance. Tours emphasizing special topics (such as architecture or architectural crafts) or in foreign languages are also available by appointment. Groups may also reserve the picnic area (48 children or 36 adults maximum). For reservations, call (626) 968-8492.

School Groups

The Homestead Museum offers guided tours for school groups of up to 75 people (including chaperones) and can be followed by a class picnic on the Museum grounds. Availability is limited and tours are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information call (626) 968-8492. The Homestead also offers a specialized school program for fourth graders.

Special Needs

The Homestead Museum is pleased to accommodate visitors with special needs with at least 72 hours notice. Most of the site is accessible by wheelchair.
